Curating the Theatrical Effect at Broadway!

According to an article in Gulf News, UAE F&B businesses are poised to achieve the most significant annual growth since the onset of Covid, potentially making 2023 their most successful year to date. In the United Arab Emirates, there are over 26,795 restaurants and cafes, each offering something unique.

Thriving in this intensely competitive scenario involves various factors, including strategic location and menu selection. When visiting a restaurant, the culinary delights typically take center stage. However, it is the combination of good interior design and appropriate lighting that transforms breakfast, lunch, or dinner into a distinctive dining experience, piquing the curiosity of diners.

At Creation, we possess extensive experience in meeting the unique and complex needs of each restaurant concerning lighting and lighting control systems. The exclusive design elements in the lighting control system at Broadway restaurant serve as another successful example of a challenge executed to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Step into a realm of theatrics and indulge your senses at Broadway, a contemporary American brasserie and bar boasting a unique design and an exhilarating ambiance. Nestled within the breathtaking seaside Emirates Palace Hotel, Broadway aims to meld flavors from around the world with the glamour of Broadway itself. The experience includes live entertainment from the 1920s era, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. Broadway is designed to accommodate up to 270 guests, offering both indoor and outdoor seating.

#TeamCreation was entrusted with the supply, testing, and commissioning of the Lighting Control System. The directive from the Lighting Designer at Project Lighting Design was to create an architectural dimming system that is versatile enough to control various protocols and brands of lighting, while also being capable of incorporating any required specific programming and integration.

Helvar products were selected as they met all the specified requirements for DALI and Phase Dimming Protocols. Pharos was chosen to fulfill the need for specialized controllers for the DMX elements. Seamless integration was achieved between the DMX, DALI, and Phase dimming systems. The main entrance features a captivating color-changing effect. In other areas of the restaurant, the intensity of light could be varied based on the chosen scene setting.

The major challenge in the project arose from unique design elements and the utilization of specific lighting products. This necessitated close coordination with the manufacturers of the lighting products and on-site contractors to fulfill the design intent to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Lighting for restaurants

The lighting of the façade, sign, and door should reflect the style of your establishment and invite people to enter. For the kitchen and work area, cool white lighting is recommended. The service area/BoH, including the POS and cash register, will benefit from a higher color temperature, along with localized and concentrated lighting. In the dining area, it’s preferable to have subdued ambient light to create a quiet and conversational atmosphere. Beautiful pendant luminaires that match the table size are the best choice for table lighting.
