High Profile Controls!

The Al Kifaf 1 Residence is a complex of two modern, multi-use, super high-rise luxury towers on Sheikh Zayed Road in the heart of Dubai, overlooking various landmarks such as the Dubai Frame, Zabeel park and Zabeel Palace.

The Al Kifaf project was developed in two phases. “In Phase 1, we had successfully worked on light controls for the facade. Following this for phase 2, Japanese firm Shinryo, a global MEP giant, approached us to bid on the new phase,” says Mr. Dharmendra Patel, MD, Creation.

In March 2020, Creation signed a contract to supply, install and commission the lighting control systems for the two 45-storey towers. The idea was to connect Lobbies, Common Corridors, Parking, Gym, Multi-purpose Hall, Yoga Room and Kids’ Play areas through occupancy sensors and timer-based controls with overrides available in strategic locations.

In July 2021, the scope expanded to include installing light controls for the landscape areas around the towers and in October 2021, Shinryo also entrusted the facade lighting control contract to Creation.

The Scope

The scope for the interior areas included corridors, lobby areas, gym, multipurpose hall, yoga and kid’s play area. Occupancy sensors by Helvar and timer-based controls with override switches in the electrical rooms were installed for lighting controls.

For the façade and landscape areas, lighting control was achieved using a timer and photocell-based solution from EX-OR, with an override switch in the electrical rooms. The control plate and IR receiver can be controlled via Helvar Remote control.

It was a challenging project but by working closely with all involved parties, we were able to determine the best possible solution to satisfy all the stakeholders.” concludes Mr. Patel.

Define ‘Whom’ the lights will shine for!

A bold ceiling fixture will direct attention up and open up your space tricking you into thinking that the space is much larger than it actually is. Lampshades, apart from being decorative, make a big difference in the quality of light you get out of your lamp. Task lighting is useful, especially in kitchens. The use of dimmers gives flexible lighting in the room besides changing the mood of a room as desired. Tall floor lamps are ideal for the narrow corners of a room that are often overlooked.
