Lights On at City Social!

Lights On at City Social!

March 2023,

When Team Creation is called in to supply fixtures, one would think it’s just as simple as drawing up a shopping list in tandem with the designer.
In reality, the process is a much more involved one. It includes many stakeholders, such as the interior designer, and the contractor all of whom are focused on helping the lighting designer achieve his design intent.

What’s also critical is keeping an eye on the deadline. Often, manufacturers need a longer lead time for meeting bulk orders for fixtures and this can put a spanner in the works. But with our long years of experience, we are able to overcome all these challenges to ensure we meet our commitment.

It’s when you see the curtains raised on completion that you recognise all that went into creating the perfect light effect. At City Social, our latest project at Grosvenor house, the feeling is just like this. The designers have created a stunning space where the light lends fluidity to the space and the space changes continuously over time. And it’s amazing to see how the same solid space evokes different feelings in the people inhabiting it.

Meeting people in the right light!

Speaking about lights, a space as grand as the 43rd floor of Grosvenor House, which is to be the hub of social activity has to be treated right! TeamCreation worked closely with reputed lighting designer Studio Lumen to supply light fittings for many of the light types required for the restaurant.

“Given our previous record and our reputation in the market, the client preferred to work with us,” reveals Mr. Dharmendra Patel, MD, Creation Gulf. “Studio Lumen gave their inputs on the RAL (colour) finishes required for some of the fittings. The fixtures specified were chosen to create a unique space and ambience. These included spotlights, wall washers, neon flex and strips. Some of our brands were selected whereas some were sourced from other brands based on the design and selection of the lighting designer,” he continues.

The entire project took 10 weeks from start to finish. The challenge was to match the project timelines as some products required a higher lead time.

“The Studio Lumen Team has created a stunning space at City Social. Seamless coordination between the client’s project team, Bond interiors, Studio lumen Design and Creation’s team assisted in the smooth execution of the project,” concludes Mr. Patel.

The aim of the entire lighting plan was to evoke a ‘WOW Factor in every space with a mix of light types being used and this objective has been successfully achieved.

Large Space lighting

It’s important to have diffused lighting to reduce glare in larger spaces. One point sources often cause ‘tired eyes’ and should be avoided.

It’s critical to ensure luminaries are properly spaced and the light spreads evenly through the room. To achieve uniformity one should pay heed to instructions laid out by the manufacturer with regard to spacing and mounting.
